Animal Activist caught Injured Elephant LAXMI using for Joy Rite at Mumbai – Mulund

 On Sunday, August 15, 2010 Evening, an injured Elephant LAXMI was used for Joyride outside a garden at Mulund West. Animal Activist Sunish Subramanian Kunju of Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai and Amisha Shah of Smt. Maneka Gandhi's People for Animals have taken this issue with Mulund Police Station and booked the owner RATI RAM GOSWAMI under various section of Bombay Police Act. Owner, mahout and elephant were there in Police Station compound for 24 Hours (15th & 16th  August 2013).

The elephant was having injury in back and all over the body, which was covered with sack without an treatment and using it for Joy Ride near an garden at Devidayal Road, Mulund West. It was not first time the owner of this elephant was caught red handed using injured elephant for commercial purpose.

As per the information received Goswami is the resident of Mulund (West)and is the owner of two elephants (LAXMI & BIJLI - Ramu) which he use for commercial purpose like begging on streets, joy ride in areas like Bhandup, Mulund, Thane, Kanjur Marg and also taking them for marriage ceremony, entertainment  and religious functions.

Citizen spotted Elephant in Vasai

On 13th January 2010, an elephant been spotted using for begging in the busy street of Vasai and it is clear from photograph they are use for commercial purpose to earn money by displaying it in public. This elephant is regularly seen in this area.
