After PAWS-Mumbai taken-up the issue, CCF-Thane says take necessary action as per the law & submit the report on the base of PAWS-Mumbai Letter

On 19 December 2012, Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAW-Mumbai) Office received a letter from Chief Conservator of Forest  - Thane (CCF-Thane) Letter No. 459/2012-13 of dated 11/12/2012 in which CCF-Thane have directed Deputy Conservator of Forest- Thane (DCF-Thane) to take necessary action on the bases of PAWS-Mumbai Letter No. PAWS-Mumbai/SJ-BI/17/2012 Dated 10 November 2012 on the usage of Elephants in Mumbai, Thane, Vasai, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan area’s for begging which is gross violation of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960 and other animals related laws and submit a report on it.

Private Elephants is subject matter of Project Elephant & Chief Wildlife Warden of State says CZA

On 08 December 2012, Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai Office received a letter from Central Zoo Authority – CZA (Ministry of Environment & Forests, Government of India) New Delhi Letter F. No. 26-1/2010-CZA(Vol.III)(M)1873 dated 31.10.2012 which is signed by Dr. Brij Kishor Gupta – Evaluation and Monitoring Officer : CZA  following to PAWS-Mumbai letter (No. PAWS-Mumbai/SJ-BI/11-2012) Dated 18 October 2012 to Member Secretary of Central Zoo Authority, New Delhi in regards to “Usage of Elephants in Mumbai, Thane, Vasai, Navi Mumbai and Kalyan area’s for begging which is gross violation of Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act 1960 and other animals related laws."

Reference is invited to your letter No. PAWS-Mumbai/SJ-EI/2012 dated 18th October 2013.

The private elephants in State is the Subject matter of Project Elephant and Chief Wildlife Warden of the concerned State and not under the purview of the Central Zoo Authority, therefore you are requested to get in touch with the concerned authorities with regards to your petition.
