PAWS-Mumbai Team caught Injured Elephant Laxmi using for begging at Mumbai - Bhandup

An  Injured Elephant LAXMI was using for begging by two minor children on Lake Road at Bhandup West, seen by volunteers of Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai). 
Electricity shock injury

PAWS-Mumbai Activist and Hony. Animal Welfare Officer Sunish Subramanian  Kunju who reached the spot and informed the Police Control Helpline 100 (its Complaint number is E85287, later the injured Elephant LAXMI was taken to Bhandup Police Station where action have been taken against RATI RAM GOSWAMI the owner of the Elephant under Prevention of Cruelty to Animal Act, 1960 U/s 11 and Bombay Police Act, 1951 U/s. 73, its LAC No 1287 / 09 of dated 19.10.09, name of IO is PSI Deepal Vijay Surve. As per the information received the injury was due to Electricity Shock.

As per the information received Goswami is the resident of Mulund (West)and is the owner of two elephants (LAXMI & BIJLI - Ramu) which he use for commercial purpose like begging on streets, joy ride in areas like Bhandup, Mulund, Thane, Kanjur Marg and also taking them for marriage ceremony, entertainment  and religious functions.
