Citizen spotted Elephant in Thane (West)

Chief Conservator of Forest (CCF) Thane circular says “In order to stop this violation, it is hereby prohibited to bring or keep Indian Elephant within Mumbai Municipal Corporation, Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation and Thane Municipal Corporation without valid ownership with conditions stipulated by Forest Department of Maharashtra”.

On 01 December 2009, Tuesday, an elephant been spotted using for begging near Railway Station, Thane West, it is clear from photograph they are use for commercial purpose to earn money by displaying it in public and regularly seen in this area. This spot is near to Deputy Conservator of Forest Thane Office and it the way for many forest staff to go and come to their duty daily. Its big question comes in the mind of common citizen that do they cannot see this so large animal just like us? Do the Forest Department give permission to use this Elephant for commercial purpose ?
