Animal Welfare Board of India intervened into Cruelty inflicted to elephants Bijli-Ramu & Laxmi in Mulund - Mumbai issue following to PAWS-Mumbai Complaint

On19 June 2013, Plant & Animals Welfare Society – Mumbai (PAWS-Mumbai) Written Complaint Letter No. PAWS-Mumbai/PCA-BE/45-2013 of Dated 18 Jun 2013, addressing to the Senior Police Inspector – Mulund Police Station & the Range Forest Officer – Mumbai, the copy of it have forwarded to the Chairman, Vice Chairman & Secretary of Animal Welfare Board of India. Following to the letter Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) intervened into the issue and AWBI Secretary Smt. S. Uma Rani had spoken to Mr. S.W.H.Naqui - Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and Mr. G.T. Chawan – Deputy Conservator of Forests (Territorial) Thane and in this regards AWBI have officially send the letter No. 9-2/2013-14/PCA  dated 19.06.2013 to The Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Maharashtra State) Nagpur and copy of it have been forwarded to The Chief Secretary – Govt. of Maharashtra, The  Director General of Police – Maharashtra, The District Collector Mumbai & Thane, Assistant Director – Wildlife Crime Control Bureau.

As per the request of AWBI we at PAWS-Mumbai continuously following-up the issue with all concerned department and updating status in this issue to AWBI regularly. PAWS-Mumbai has all the communication made to the authorities in regards to Bijli-Ramu and Laxmi.
